The author is Graeme Jones is the Addington Advents Centre Manager, Christchurch.
The book reflects his cooking journey, from apprenticeship at The George Hotel in Christchurch to Executive Chef stints in the Bay of Islands and Whangarei, and then back to Christchurch to work for Continental Caterers and then Airport Sudima Hotel before arriving in Addington in 2010 pre-earthquake
KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid, is a term in which people use everywhere to try and make their point to not overcomplicate the situation.
Basically, getting started would sum this book up. This is not just for the amateur either as I doubt that some professional cooks/chefs would have gone to some of these levels with dish ideas. It is also not a pretentious tweezer tweaking book that Michaelangelo would have swapped a paint brush for.
